DESCRIPTION:

Kent Watercolor Artist, Joanne Schempp, will be offering beginning & intermediate watercolor classes starting in February. Joanne has been painting in the traditional watercolor style since childhood. She paints fantasy using the many techniques specific to watercolor. Over the years, her work has been displayed locally at “Art in the Park” and various city fairs. You may recognize her style by the use of beautiful candy colors, luminous layering and attention to detail. Her art is widely distributed on merchandising and licensing lines and originals are found in many personal collections worldwide.

Two- Six week classes will be offered for the beginner and intermediate skill level. These Classes offer hands on training of watercolor techniques geared toward each students’ personal skill level. Each session starts with basic instruction such as use of colors, characteristics of paint, and types of supplies, and progress to painting techniques using the knowledge gained in each session. Come prepared to paint. Beginning materials will be provided for class work but bringing own watercolor supplies for subsequent classes is recommended. It’s nice if you can draw but you don’t have to have drawing skills to learn how to paint! Each class holds a maximum of 12 students.

Beginning Classes Start the 1st of February. Saturday, 12n – 1:15p  $60
Intermediate Classes Start the 2nd of February, Sunday 2p – 3:15p  $60

The New World Children’s Theater began as The New World Puppet Theater at the North Water Street Gallery in Kent, Ohio, in January of 1993. Originally, it was comprised of home-school children. Throughout the years , however, it has grown to include public-schooled children as well. Eventually, the troupe outgrew the puppets and the ensemble became The New World Children’s Theater, which has produced 27 plays since 1994. In addition to the emphasis on original playwriting, the company is dedicated to using recycled materials in the construction of its sets and props. This fosters an understanding of a sustainable planet as well as an understanding of how to work with limited resources. The only requirement is an active imagination.

The New World Children’s Theatre is always looking for donations to support students from low income families as well as our our ongoing activities. Donations are tax deductible and can be made to Standing Rock Cultural Arts, 257 N. Water St., Kent, Ohio 44240.

Thank you for supporting the kids.
