Plot:
Our play is set in the present day at The Google Gaggle Future Museum,
2009. It’s the Annual “Modern Inventions Exposition”
and Google Gaggle
himself will be determining which invention becomes the next worldwide
sensation.
Enter Kiki and Gigi, a pair of twin, Japanese scientists who dress
like
anime characters and have a tendency to speak together or finish each
other’s sentences. Lo and behold, they have created a time machine
and
have captured the attention of Mr. Gaggle. He insists on taking a trip
in the time machine and here is where the adventure begins.
After several tries to go back in time to George Washington’s
Inauguration, the time machine crew finally lands in the future. It’s
2100 AD and the Atlantic Ocean is a desert. There seems to be no life
left on the planet until they come across a Pharaoh and a broken old
robot. Alas, most of the population has died out due to famine and
epidemics related to global warming.
The Pharaoh explains that the remaining population left for the moon
20
years ago, where they set up colonies under huge bubbles. As the time
travelers continue their journey, they end up crash landing on the moon
and are forced to search for spare parts... or dismantle the robot.
Will they discover the secret to extraterrestrial life? Will they be
forever stranded on the moon? Or will they find the part they need in
the Hall of Forgotten Inventions and return safely home to the present
day?
Find out the answers May 15, 16, & 17, at The Historic Kent Stage,
175
E. Main St. in Downtown Kent.
Caution, random acts of singing and dancing are committed during this
performance.
Hope you can make it.

New World Children’s Theatre: 1993-2009 Description
Our programming at Standing Rock Cultural Arts involves many activities
for children including The New World Children’s Theatre which
will be
performing its 24th production the week-end of May 15. The New World
Children’s Theatre program is comprised of up to 20 children,
7-17, who
are involved in writing, acting, designing, and promoting an original
theatrical production.
The New World Children’s Theater began as The New World Puppet
Theater at
the North Water Street Gallery in Kent, Ohio, in January of 1993.
Originally, it was comprised of home-school children. Throughout the
years , however, it has grown to include public-schooled children as
well.
Eventually, the troupe outgrew the puppets and the ensemble became
The
New World Children’s Theater, which has produced 23 plays since
1994. In
addition to the emphasis on original playwriting, the company is
dedicated to using recycled materials in the construction of its sets
and props. This fosters an understanding of a sustainable planet as
well
as an understanding of how to work with limited resources. The only
requirement is an active imagination.
The New World Children’s Theatre is always looking for donations
to
support students of low income families as well as our ongoing
activities. Donations are tax deductible and can be made to Standing
Rock Cultural Arts (SRCA), 257 N. Water St., Kent Ohio 44240.
