Get Ready! Get Set! Here comes another lively and truly comical production
by The New World Children's Theatre. What happens when an Ohio family
wins a prize giveaway contest that sends them on a trip to Hawaii? Who,
or what, could possibly save them when the plane crashes into the ocean?
Will the ruthless scientist on the island enslave them and force them
to clean up all the cat litter? Or will the owner of the Cheescake Factory
hire them all as workers so as to keep up with all the cheesecake orders
on the island? Find out the answers to these questions at the African
Community Theatre on the campus of KSU beginning May 19th. Caution,
random acts of singing and dancing are committed during this performance.

About
the New World Children's Theater
The
New World Children's Theater has its roots in the New World Puppet Theater,
which began at the North Water Street Gallery, 257 N. Water St., in
Kent, Ohio. It Was January, 1993. At this time it was made up primarily
of homeschooled children who helped make and operate the puppets. Throughout
the years, as the kids grew, public schooled children joined in the
productions. The only requirement for particpation was an active imagination.
Eventually, the kids outgrew the puppets, and the ensemble became the
New World Children's Theater, which produced 16 plays from 1994 to 2002.
An emphasis on original creative playwrighting
has been the tradition. We have also tried to use recycled materials
in building our sets and props. The kids are involved every step of
the way. Not only does this foster an understanding of a sustainable
planet, but it also provides us with an understanding of working with
limited resources.
Standing Rock Cultural Arts is
happy to announce that we have received a grant from The
Ohio Arts Council toward our New World Children's
Theatre program. The grant will help us in the areas of instructor fees,
production/space rental, outside artistic fees, and marketing and publicity.
THANK YOU to the OAC !
