Cherokee Storytelling with Edwin George and Dona Green. Saturday, November 13th, 2004 2-4pm at the North Water Street Gallery, 257 N. Water St., Kent. Free (Donations accepted and appreciated). Join us for an exceptional afternoon with 72 year old folk artist Edwin George (Read Edwin's Art Statement ). Edwin is a full blooded Eastern Band Cherokee who resides in Kent. His English is limited, but his pictures paint a thousand words. Dona Green helps translate and is an accomplished storyteller as well. Together they continue a tradition that dates back centuries, if not millennia. Since food is such an important part of one's culture, Dona has offered to cook some traditional corn, beans, and squash. And to top it off, The Northeast Ohio Flute Circle will perform from 3:30 to 4:00pm. A perfect afternoon for setting the Thanksgiving mood.
